11:34 PM
I actually woke up at 9.30am to go to work voluntarily, when i've got the world's best boyfriend next to me.

Managed to get to work at 11am with a ride from mummy dearest.

Met Jon for the movie, Leap Years at 4pm. I cried a lot. I've got this obsession with melancholic shit. I love getting caught up in all that drama and sadness, and probably half wishing i'm going through that shit. Ha ha. Nah, life's too beautiful right now. But i really enjoyed Leap Years very much, one of the better shows this year. And of cos, not forgetting 27 dresses.

We ended the lovely day, catching up with the odacians at the Mind Cafe. The bone game is hilarious. Had a whale of a time there. My friends make my world go round! I love y'all. And, Happy birthday to Robin, Rex, Chunmin & Chloe. May y'all be blessed with all the beautiful things in life. Clearly, Chloe has already been blessed with a beautiful thing that starts with a T. (read: the watch.) =p

Bangkok!
4:33 PM
Day 1 - 14th Mar 08, Friday

My darling parents drove Jon & I to the airport and we had crappy breakfast together at this imperial kitchen (don't exactly remember the name now). Thereafter, it was just Jon & I, all on our own for 6 days. DFS is selling 3oml La Mer at only $180 plus minus. And I got mine a couple of days ago for $225 at Tangs. I got my Bobbi corrector, and almost got the lip stain, which I should have cos the Taka counter's sold out now. The airplane ride was superb. No motion sickness for me. Smooth take-off and landing. Jon says it's cos of the pilot. (would love to elaborate more but i think racism is a taboo subject for blogs right?) I agree.

We paid 450baht for our taxi ride to the hotel at the Pratunam area. It was 1.5hrs of a hell ride, the driver said Bangkok's always jammed up on Fridays. Khurana Inn is a new hotel. They have run-of-the-house rooms, which means they're all the same. It was clean, good for me. But small, bad for us. The room boasts a double bed, a TV rested on a simple table, a small fridge (not the mini ones), a wardrobe and a bathroom. What it doesn't provide that
I would have loved, is a safebox, a hairdryer and an electric kettle (for my late night cup noodles). We didn't take a picture but here's what I took off the directrooms website, where we got the room for 985baht p/night. Pretty decent room for the price we paid. No complains.

After we settled in at around 4-ish, we went to hunt for my favourite muu (pork) rice. To my dismay, the foodcourt wasn't there anymore.

This is what I settled for in place of my muu rice.

After dinner, we headed straight to the Suan Lum Night Bazaar cos we'd heard news of its impending closure. Its very much alive & doesn't look in the least bit like it's going to be news of the past. I picked up a few unique pretty buys there. And, the food was not too bad there.

Day 2 - 15th Mar 08, Saturday

Chatuchak, here we come! Before that was free breakfast at Khurana, they have this indian restaurant down at the lobby & we chose to have free omelette and toast.

Helluvalot of shops here. Love the pretty dresses here. Jon bought me a lovely dress here cos he likes it. (I wore it to the Mind Cafe with the gang.) It was too hot to shop so I didn't really buy much here. But I liked the cheap food and just soaking up the atmosphere of it all.

After we were done with Chatuchak in the evening, we headed down to Sukhumvit by taxi, to Ambassador & Smart Fashion to tailor some shirts. (Try taking the train next time, its faster, Sukhumvit's always jammed.) More about the shirts later in this post.

We went to Siam Health Spa where I did my massage previously. It's very near the hotel and costs only 450baht for 2hrs. I love it there cos it's super spacious and clean, but don't expect superb massages.

Day 3 - 16th Mar 08, Sunday

We overslept today. Wonder if it could be because of the massage.

We headed to MBK. First to Tops for my sister's stuff, and we discovered a little foodcourt next to it. Where I had very cheap fishball glass noodles.

My biggest discovery is this little shop that tailors chanel-like suits! You get to choose the style, fabric, details etc. All for only 2600baht per suit. I made 2 and absolutely love em.

Today, we thrawled MBK, Bonanza Mall, Siam Square and Siam Paragon. At Siam Paragon, we had our little date. Dinner at Fuji and movies at where i think could be the posh-est cinema in Thailand. Fuji has the freshest sashimi I've ever tasted but that could be cos I've never stepped onto the land of the rising sun. We got the couple seat in the cinema & watched 27 dresses. It was like this huge velvet sofa with a very high backrest. Wonderful! They even provided silk blankets, and oh of course I enjoyed the show very much. Alas, we had to leave our cameras with the reception so no pictures. They're pretty strict about bringing cameras into the theatre. And, I must not forget to mention I love the colour of the sky where Siam Square is. I just like to be lost in all things surreal.

(never w/o my bubble tea, in every country)

Day 4 - 17th Mar 08, Monday

We slept in again today. Must have been too tired from all that shopping.

Went over to Ambassador for our shirt fitting. Jon's shirts looked pretty alright. Mine were just huge! And erring towards disastrous, I must say. They looked a bit manly. So I told him what adjustments to make. More about this shirt tailoring later...

We took the train for the first time today cos we were just too sick of the jams around the Sukhumvit area. Headed to Platinum mall, the acclaimed shopping paradise for cheap wholesale buys. I adore the glass noodles there. And also bought some lovely hair pins for my colleagues. But that's all! Didn't buy anything else there.

Jon & I went for a massage again. This time, we tried the herbal compress. It didn't feel good for a massage because there wasn't much kneading. But miraculously, my aches went away. Cool shit.

We had dinner at this cafe downstairs cos everything was closed by the time our massage ended. Jon's the sweetest thing cos I wanted to try this claypot glass noodles which cost 240baht and he bought it for me. (i was cashless by now and the moneychangers were closed.)

Day 5 - 18th Mar 08, Tuesday

The only day we woke up on time again for breakfast.

(breakfast at the indian restaurant at the hotel lobby)

Didn't do much today. Went back to Ambassador again. The shirts were still too big for me!!! Jon's were looking good by now but still required minimal alteration. They offered to alter em for us and send it back to our hotel.

Went back to MBK to collect my suits. The service was great. Fantastic. No regrets. Unlike the stupid shirts.

We tried walking over to Somboon Seafood from MBK and got lost. The maps online were drawn up wrongly. We almost got conned by a tuk-tuk driver. But eventually, we found our way there, cos Jon managed to save us from the naughty tuk tuk driver. So smart of him! The food wasn't as good as raved about. I'd prefer the Sri Terbau seafood at Johor any time. But I had a good time with my honey.

The shirts from Ambassador were with the hotel reception by the time we got back. I was very excited to try em on. After I did, they were a major disappointment! MY shirts were still too big. It looked as though they did not do a single bit of alteration to it. Too late for anything, it'd be costing me big bucks to alter em in Singapore. (now, i'm still thinking if i should alter them)

Here's what we bought as a whole. All laid out on the bed.

Day 6 - 19th Mar 08, Wednesday

Our final day here.

Did some last minute shopping. It's so much cheaper to buy luxury items from the BKK airport.

Jon & I celebrated the first minute of our 1st year anniversary on the plane. Sweetest moment ever. Cheers to more to come...

I'll miss BKK...
